The Jharkhand Rajya Patrakar Swasth Bima Yojna Niyamawali 2021 is a health insurance scheme for accredited journalists in Jharkhand. It provides comprehensive health coverage to ensure financial security during medical emergencies.

Benefit: Health insurance coverage up to ₹5,00,000/- per year for accredited journalists. Coverage for self, spouse, and dependent children (up to 2). Includes expenses for hospitalization, surgeries, medicines, and treatments. Cashless treatment in empaneled hospitals. Note-1: The Jharkhand State Journalist Health Insurance Scheme is valid for one year, with renewal formalities required before its expiry. Note-2: Media representatives must deposit 20% of the annual premium via banker’s cheque/cheque/demand draft for health insurance coverage up to ₹5,00,000/- to the designated account of the Director, Information & Public Relations Directorate, Jharkhand Government, by the specified date. The remaining 80% of the annual premium will be covered by the Department. Claim Process: The insured media representative must provide complete details of dependents (spouse and two children) and nominate a beneficiary for claim settlement in the application form to receive medical reimbursement from the insurance company. In case of treatment or an accident, it is mandatory to inform the insurance company's district office and the Information and Public Relations Department, Ranchi, within a maximum of seven days.

The “Jharkhand Sportsperson Pension Scheme” aims to provide financial support to retired athletes for their lifelong contribution to sports. Athletes, including Arjuna, Dronacharya, and Dhyan Chand awardees, Olympic participants, and Commonwealth or Asian Games medalists, receive a monthly pension.

Benefit: Athletes receive a lifetime monthly pension of ₹10,000/-. Dependents of deceased athletes (spouse and minor children) receive ₹5,000/- monthly. NOTE: Pension payments are directly transferred to the beneficiary's bank account.

The Journalist's Medical Welfare Scheme was first implemented in 2012 by the Government of Assam. Under this scheme, one-time financial assistance is provided to the accredited and recognized journalists of Assam for their medical treatment.

Benefit: Under this Scheme, one-time financial assistance is to be provided to the Accredited and Recognized Journalist of Assam for treatment. This scheme will also include Recognised Journalists. The Scheme also covers dependent family members of the journalist. Depending upon the nature and severity of the ailments/ disease, after taking into consideration all relevant medical records, etc., the Committee may decide upon the fund to be made available per applicant in the following slabs: a) Up to a maximum of ₹ 50,000/- in case of disorders not life-threatening in nature. b) Up to a maximum of ₹ 1,00,000/- in case of disorders life-threatening in nature.

The Tamil Development, Religious Endowments, and Information Department scheme was launched by the "Journalists’ Family Benefit Fund". The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to families of journalists who died in harness with a minimum of 20 years of service as editor, sub-editor, reporter.

Benefit: Financial Assistance: ₹50,000/- for 5 years of service. ₹1,00,000/- for 10 years of service. ₹1,50,000/- for 15 years of service. ₹2,00,000/- for 20 years of service.

Launched on 1st January 1966, the scheme "Junior Hostel" by the Tribal Welfare and Scheduled Caste (SC) Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh provides free accommodation and mess facilities to students studying in classes 6th to 8th.

The Department of School & Mass Education, Government of Odisha is awarding "Junior Merit Scholarship" under the Scheme 'e-medhabruti’ to provide financial assistance to the meritorious Higher Secondary School students of Odisha from families whose parental income does not exceed 6.00 lakhs.

Benefit: The students pursuing Class XI & XII in the Higher Secondary Schools of the State will receive a scholarship amount of ₹3000/- per year. The number of scholarships will be awarded to 10,000 students (Boys & Girls in 50:50 ratio).

The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India provides fellowships for pursuing research in biotechnology and life-sciences through the "DBT-Junior Research Fellowship" (DBT-JRF) Programme.

Benefit: The fellowship amount for the JRF program is ₹31,000 per month for the first two years and ₹35,000 per month for the remaining three years.

The scheme was initiated keeping in view the political and cultural bilateral relations of India with other developing countries: Asia, Africa, Latin America. The scheme has opened new vistas for foreign students and teachers, enable them to come to India and undertake advanced studies and research.

Benefit: NATURE OF ASSISTANCE The number of slots available under the scheme is 20 for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and 7 for Research Associateship (RA). The tenure of these awards is four years (Non-extendable) for both JRF and RA. Financial Assistance for JRF - Fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/-p.m. for an initial period of two years. @ Rs. 14,000/-p.m. for the remaining period subject to the recommendation for enhancement/extension by a three-member committee and the Commission’s approval for Sciences for initial two years. (ii) JRF/RA provided with accommodation in a hostel recognized/maintained by the institutions may be reimbursed the hostel fee, excluding mess, electricity, water charges, etc. (iii) A certificate to this effect is to be furnished through the Registrar/Principal (Annexure I). (iv) If JRF/RA makes his/her own arrangements of accommodation, he/she may be entitled to draw HRA as per the categorization of cities by the Government of India. (v) The Fellow will submit a certificate for this purpose to UGC for claiming HRA through the concerned university/institution/college. Medical No separate/fixed medical assistance is provided. However, the JRF/RA may avail of the medical facilities available in the institutions/university. Leave (i) Leave for a maximum period of 30 days in a year in addition to public holidays may be taken by a fellow with the approval of the supervisor. However, they are not entitled to any other vacations, for example, summer, winter, and pooja vacations. Women awardees are eligible for maternity leave at full rates of the fellowships for 135 days as per Government of India rules once during the tenure of their award. (ii) The awardee may in special cases be allowed by the Commission leave without fellowship/associateship and contingency for a period not exceeding three months during the tenure of the award on the recommendation of the supervisor/Head of the department of the institution concerned. The period of leave without fellowship/associateship will be counted towards the tenure.

The scheme "Junior Research Fellowship in Engineering & Technology" by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Department of Higher Education is meant for candidates who wish to pursue research leading to a Ph.D. degree in engineering and technology.

Benefit: NATURE OF ASSISTANCE The tenure of the fellowship is initially for a period of two years as a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). After the expiry of two years the work of the fellow will be evaluated by experts and if found satisfactory, his/her tenure will be extended for a further period of three years with enhanced emoluments as a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). In case the work of the fellow for the first two years is not found satisfactory, one more year will be given to him/her for improvement, but during this period he/she will be designated as a Junior Research Fellow. In such cases work will again be evaluated after three years, and if the improvement is found, the fellow will get two more years under the SRF. Thus, the total period of fellowship (JRF and SRF) is five years, which is non-extendable. The awardee can avail research fellowship for the full tenure of the fellowship or up to the date of award of the Ph.D. degree, whichever is earlier. They are not entitled to any other leave, for example, summer, winter, pooja vacations, etc. Women candidates are eligible for maternity leave of 135 days at full rates of fellowship once during the tenure of their award. Note-1: The Research Fellow, in special cases, may be allowed by the Commission, to leave without fellowship for up to one academic year during the entire tenure of the award for accepting teaching assignments on a temporary basis, provided the assignment is in the same city/town. Note-2: In other cases, leave without fellowship will be restricted to a period not exceeding three months during the tenure of the award on the recommendations of the supervisor and the head of the institution. Note-3: The period of leave without fellowship will be counted towards the total tenure of the fellowship. Note-4: Fellows are advised to apply for leave through their university/institution/college well in advance for the approval of the Commission.
