Laadli Laxmi Scheme was launched with the intention to address the undesirable tendency of female foeticides and with an aim towards erasing the general perception that the birth of a girl in the family is a burden on her parents/guardian during her marriage.

Benefit: For Unmarried Beneficiaries (beneficiaries who attain the age of majority i.e. 18 years on or after 01-04-2012) Financial Assistance of ₹ 1,00,000, by means of a bank fixed deposit, jointly in the name of the Director (DoWCD) and the applicant. The fixed deposit shall be renewed annually automatically on maturity, along with the amount of interest accrued, till the date of claim by the applicant as per the scheme or until the age of 45 years whichever is earlier. For Married Beneficiaries ( beneficiaries who have already attained the age of 18 years before 01-04-2012 and are in the age group of 19 to 45 years prospectively from 1st April, 2016) Financial Assistance of ₹ 1,00,000., by means of cash payment.

The Government of Jammu And Kashmir started “Ladies Vocational Centres” with the objective is to impart training in various trades i.e. Cutting, Embroidery, Knitting as well as Stenography to the female folk to enable them to start their income-generating units.

Benefit: The training is provided in the trades like Cutting and Tailoring, Leather-work, Machine Embroidery, Stenography, and Croshia work. The stipend @₹100/- per month is given to the candidates under training. The training is also provided under the Cottage Industry Centre in the trade of Carpentry, Leather-work, and Weaving.

Ladli Beti Scheme

A social assistance scheme sponsored by the J&K Govt. for newborn girl children born on or after 01/04/2015. The objective is to arrest the declining female sex ratio. The scheme ensures that the girl child does not become a burden for the parent or guardian at the time of her marriage.

Benefit: Benefits & Features:A recurring deposit account under this scheme shall be opened by the natural or legal guardian of the girl child. A contribution of Rs. 1000/- per month will be made by J&K Government from the birth of the girl child/account opening date for the next 14 years. (A total of Rs. 168000/- only will be contributed by the UT.) No credits other than a monthly contribution of Rs. 1000/- by the J&K Government is to be allowed in Phase I (RD Account) After the maturity of Phase I (recurring deposit account) the account will graduate to Phase II (Cumulative Term Deposit account). No partial drawls or Foreclosure will be allowed under any circumstances during any phase. Maturity benefits under the scheme will be paid to the beneficiary on completion of 21 years of age or 21 years after the first installment or 85 months after the last installment whichever is later by crediting the savings bank account of the girl child. However, the girl child is at liberty to reinvest the amount in any deposit plan of the bank at card rates. The nomination facility will not be applicable in the scheme. In the unfortunate event of the death of the girl child, the account will be closed immediately and the balance amount along with interest accrued will revert to the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh; In the event of the death of the beneficiary, before she attains 21 years of age, the amount in the Recurring Deposit account / Term Deposit account shall be closed before maturity without pre-payment charges. The account opened at a particular branch may not be transferred to any other branch even if the girl child in whose name the account stands shifts to a place other than the city or locality where the account stands. The beneficiary/parent or guardian of the beneficiary shall produce a ‘life certificate of the beneficiary (girl child)’ certified by a gazetted officer or by the principal of the school/ college where she is enrolled before the concerned bank branch after every three years and at the time of maturity. As the scheme is aimed at households having an annual income of less than 75000/- The TDS shall not be deducted as long as the guardian/beneficiary furnishes form 15G/15H every year and has a valid PAN

Ladli Laxmi Yojana

Ladli Lakshmi Yojana has been started in Madhya Pradesh for Girl Child in 2007.

Benefit: An assurance certificate of ₹1,43,000/- is issued by the government in the name of the girl child. From the time of registration, ₹6,000/- will be deposited in the Madhya Pradesh Ladli Laxmi Yojana Fund for five consecutive years, the total amount of ₹30,000/- will be deposited in the name of the girl child. 1. To girl child taking admission in class 6th: ₹2,000/- To girl child taking admission in class 9th: ₹4,000/- To girl child taking admission in class 11th: ₹6,000/- To girl child taking admission in class 12th: ₹6,000/- An incentive amount of ₹25,000/- in two equal installments in the first and last year of the course after taking admission to a graduate or professional course (course duration minimum two years) after class 12th. Final payment of ₹1,00,000/- on completion of 21 years of age of the girl child, on appearing in class 12th examination and on the marriage of the girl child, after completing the age prescribed by the government.
