"National Fellowship for OBC Students" was launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) during the financial year 2014-15 to increase the opportunities for the students of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to pursue higher education leading to acquiring degrees such as M.Phil. and Ph.D.
Benefit: Number of Slots for Fellowship - The total number of slots for NFOBC under the scheme is 1000 per year. Out of 1000 slots available under this scheme, 750 will be allocated for the subjects under National Eligibility Test – Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) of UGC and the remaining 250 UGC-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (UGC-CSIR) NET-JRF joint test (for Science streams). NBCFDC General Loan Scheme
A general loan scheme by the Ministry of Social Justice for Indian citizens from backward classes for various income-generating activities. Loan up to ₹15 Lakh per beneficiary for pursuing income-generating activities.
Benefit: Loan assistance of up to ₹15,00,000/- for income-generating activities such as agriculture and allied activities, small business, artisan and traditional occupations, transport sector, service sector, and technical/professional trades or courses. NBCFDC finances 85% of the project cost, while 15% is contributed by the Channel Partner and/or beneficiary. Concessional interest rates ranging from 6% to 8% per annum, depending on the loan amount. Repayment in quarterly instalments over a maximum period of 8 years, including a 6-month moratorium on recovery of the principal amount.
New Akanksha Scheme (Higher Education Loan) (GGDC)
This scheme provides educational loans of up to ₹15.00 lakh to students belonging to the Rabari and Bharwad castes from socially and educationally backward classes for pursuing higher professional courses such as medical, dental, engineering, pharmacy, etc.

A latest computer/laptop of a reputed brand with accessories like UPS and printer limited to ₹45,000/- per student as one-time assistance during the course. Note 01: The scholarship will become payable immediately after a student has secured admission and has started attending the classes. Note 02: The payment of tuition fees and other non-refundable charges will be made directly to the institution by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer mode. Note 03: Similarly, the payment of living expenses, books & stationery, and computer/laptop with accessories will be made directly to the student by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer mode.
The objective of the scheme is to provide premium education to the meritorious students belonging to OBC, EBC, and DNT categories by funding their education from Class 9 onwards till they complete Class 12.
Benefit: The grants will be provided for tuition fee, hostel fee, and other charges as required by the school, subject to a maximum of ₹75,000/- per annum per student of Class 9 and 10 and ₹1,25,000/- per annum per student of Class 11 and 12. Note 01: The release of funds will be directly into the account of beneficiaries through DBT mode. Note 02: Payment shall be made in installments to be released before 15th August each year.
Post Metric Scholarship For OBC Students
This scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Other Backward Classes students studying at the post-matriculation stage to enable students to complete their education.
Benefit: The benefit of the scholarship depends on the annual family income of the students, institution, course, course subscriber, fee capping, etc. All students whose annual family income is up to Rs 3,00,000, those students will be eligible for a 100% scholarship.
Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC and DNT Students - DNH & DD
Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC & DNT students of UT domicile with parental income below ₹2.5 lakh p.a. Academic allowance ₹5,000–₹20,000 p.a. for eligible courses. Online/correspondence students get tuition fees only. Institutes must have AISHE/UDISE code and NAAC/NBA accreditation.

Post-Matric Scholarship for the Students Belonging to Scheduled Tribe for Studies in India
The scheme aims to enable eligible Scheduled Tribe students to undertake quality education from the post-matriculation to the post-graduate level. It provides financial assistance covering compulsory course fees and monthly stipends for intended beneficiaries, including hostellers and day scholars.
Benefit: Fee Component The scheme covers the payment of compulsory non-refundable fees for the recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary course pursued by the student. There is a fee ceiling of ₹2,50,000/- per annum per student for Engineering courses in private sector institutes. There is a fee ceiling of ₹6,00,000/- per annum per student for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Master of Surgery, and Doctor of Medicine courses in private sector institutes. There is a fee ceiling of ₹1,00,000/- per annum per student for all other courses in private sector institutes. Monthly Stipend (Payable For A Maximum Of 10 Months Annually) For Group I (Degree and Post Graduate professional courses): Hostellers receive ₹1,200/- per month (₹12,000/- annually), and day scholars receive ₹550/- per month (₹5,500/- annually). For Group II (Non-professional Degree and Post Graduate courses): Hostellers receive ₹820/- per month (₹8,200/- annually), and day scholars receive ₹530/- per month (₹5,300/- annually). For Group III (Vocational, Industrial Training Institute, and 3-year diploma courses): Hostellers receive ₹570/- per month (₹5,700/- annually), and day scholars receive ₹300/- per month (₹3,000/- annually). For Group IV (Post-matriculation non-degree courses): Hostellers receive ₹380/- per month (₹3,800/- annually), and day scholars receive ₹230/- per month (₹2,300/- annually). Additional Disability Allowance Specially-abled hosteller students receive an additional allowance of ₹800/- per month (₹9,600/- annually). Specially-abled day scholar students receive an additional allowance of ₹600/- per month (₹7,200/- annually). Benefit Disbursal Details The scholarship amounts are disbursed exclusively through the Direct Benefit Transfer mode directly into the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The stipend is payable monthly, calculated from 1st April or from the month of admission, whichever is later, until the month in which the annual examinations are completed. Conditions for Availment and Continuation The continuous disbursement of the scholarship is strictly dependent on the satisfactory academic progress, good conduct, and regularity in attendance of the enrolled scholars. The scholarship will be immediately cancelled or withheld if the student resorts to strikes or maintains irregular attendance without formal permission from the institution authorities. The scholarship will not be renewed if the student fails in a particular academic year, and the benefits will be paused until the student clears that class and gets promoted to the next class.

The “Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme-Bihar” aims to provide financial assistance to eligible students from Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) for their post-secondary education.
